My Dr. suggested I keep track of my BP for him to he could adjust my medicine. This saved me trips to the pharmacy several times a day. Well,just for info - I immediately quit smoking (40 yr smoker), started walking 15 mins then 30 mins a day, avoided as much salt as possible and now I'm working on getting off Micardis in less than 3 months with a lifestyle change. Getting back to the BP machine, I was able to measure my BP anytime of the day, and I usually took 6-8 readings a day and then averaged them out. Last week my Dr. said that I could half my pills for two weeks and if BP is still within normal limits then I could stop the meds. It is very easy to use and I feel that it is quite accurate. You do need to insert batteries in order to use the memory feature because when you use the ac adapter and then unplug it, the memory doesn't remember. It is an excellent monitor for a beginner who wants to keep track of your blood pressure away from the doctor's office.
